The Human-Centred Computing Group has an opportunity for a Research Associate to work on the Digital Wildfire project.  The project is a collaboration between the Universities of Oxford, Cardiff, Warwick and De Montfort, and will be led in Oxford by Marina Jirotka who is Professor of Human Centred Computing in the Department of Computer Science, Associate Director of the Oxford e-Research Centre, and Associate Researcher of the Oxford Internet Institute.

The successful candidate will be contributing to the research project plan as well as collaborating with other staff associated with the project.  Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science, social science or a relevant discipline.

The primary selection criteria are: expertise in the collection and analysis of interview data, the digital interaction analysis of data sets, and writing papers based on qualitative research. Experience in identifying ethical issues on technical projects is desirable.

The post, which is a full time appointment, is funded by The Economic and Social Research Council and is available initially for up to 18 months with the possibility of extension. The post has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (currently £30,434 to £37,394). This includes membership of the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
