Departmental Lecturer (Multi-Agent Systems)

Grade 8; Salary: £38,511 – £45,954 p.a. (fixed term for up to 5 years).

The opportunity has arisen to appoint a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Computer Science (Multi-Agent Systems). This will be a fixed term appointment for up to 5 years from 1 October 2015 or on a mutually agreed date. You would be a full member of the team responsible for teaching in a variety of subjects within the Department of Computer Science, and you should have a track record of research in the area of Multi-Agent Systems.

Broadly the duties of the role will be:

  • To engage in excellent research within the discipline of Multi-Agent Systems, and you are encouraged to apply for funding to support your research activities, as well as to get involved in the supervision of doctoral students.
  • To participate in the teaching and administrative work of the Department
  • To examine for the University when required to do so
  • To supervise, or assist in the supervision of graduate students as required

You should have a doctoral degree in computer science, with post-qualification teaching and research experience, with sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in Multi-Agent Systems to develop course units. A strong publication record and knowledge of existing research in Multi-Agent Systems, and aptitude for, or experience of, teaching are also required. The post, which is a full-time appointment, is available from 1 October 2015, is fixed-term for up to 5 years, and has a salary on the University grade 08S scale (currently £38,511 to £45,954). This includes membership of the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).
