Posted: 24th June 2015

Grade 7: £30,434 – £37,394 p.a. (fixed term until 30 September 2016)

The Department of Computer Science is seeking a full-time researcher to work on the SECD (Secure Enterprise Companion Device) project, the aim of which is to develop novel hardware to address the security problems inherent in the 'Bring Your Own Device' scenario common in many businesses today.  This project is a collaboration between the University of Oxford, Nquiringminds Limited, and Impleo Professional Services Limited, and is led by Professor Andrew Martin.

You will be responsible for the development of suitable architectures which meet the requirements and risk profile developed by the project, as well as prototyping some of the elements of the solution through programming and integration of pre-existing components, analysing and evaluating the solution for security and other properties.  In collaboration with other team members, you will write up these findings in project documents, white papers, and academic publications.

You should have, or shortly be expecting to receive, a PhD in Computer Science or related field, together with documented track record of published research, especially in developing and evaluating distributed systems architecture. Understanding of ‘trusted computing’ technologies, and experience in undertaking and making use of security risk analysis are highly desirable.

The post, which is a full-time appointment, is funded by InnovateUK, and has a salary on the University grade 07S scale (currently £30,434 to £37,394 p.a.). This includes membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and has an annual leave entitlement of 38 days per year (inclusive of all public holidays and university closed periods).

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 27 July 2015. Interviews are expected to be held on 31 July 2015.
