Interests

Jack's research interests centre around authentication and systems development. This includes implicit or continuous authentication of human users in various contexts, such as IoT or payment systems, and authentication of autonomous agents to establish secure and trustworthy AI. He is currently working on cryptographic proofs that enable safe credential delegation and verification of model outputs. The goal is to enable AI agents to be deployed anywhere, regardless of the host, in such a way that confidentiality and integrity are provably preserved.

Jack's doctoral research focused on user authentication in mobile payment systems. This included systems that operate on wearable devices with limited input capabilities, the development of novel behavioural biometrics based on physiological signals, and the use of emergent generative AI techniques for dataset augmentation and cross-device gesture mapping.

Biography

Jack obtained his DPhil in Computer Science (Security) at the University of Oxford in 2024 on a full EPSRC scholarship. Prior to that, he worked as a software engineer at Accenture and IBM; he also co-founded a video games company, while at IBM, that released two titles on PlayStation Network and one on Steam. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and an MSc (Dist.) in Information Security from the University of Surrey. Jack is an avid traveller and has volunteered with the US National Parks Service in Arizona and California, camping and working deep in the wilderness! His interests also include programming, board-gaming, hiking, and number theory.
