Interests

My research interests lie in the areas of sensor networks for nondestructive evaluation, structural health monitoring, and precision agriculture, and I have expertise in the engineering aspects of magnetism and magnetic materials. I am currently working on the Structalyse and Mi6Sense projects where I am developing smart sensors for structural health monitoring. These sensors use low-frequency magnetic fields to communicate and measure relative distance to one another directly from within concrete, making it possible to interrogate the internal condition of a structure in real-time.

Biography

I'm a postdoctoral research associate in the Sensor Networks group at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. I previously obtained my Ph.D. at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University , where I developed a method for the non-destructive evaluation of stress in ferromagnetic components using information contained in magnetic Barkhausen signals.
