Biography

Sarah Aldaweesh is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. Her research examines the design of culturally sensitive digital technologies for underrepresented populations, with a particular focus on culturally aligned generative AI, responsible technology, and inclusive design in the context of digital well-being support.

Her work has been published in leading academic venues, primarily ACM CHI, and has received several recognitions, including the 2023 Rawabi Holding Award for exceptional individual efforts and academic achievement, as well as a CHI 2026 Honourable Mention Award.

Before joining Oxford, Sarah worked as a researcher at the Center of Excellence for Telecom Applications at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), and as a visiting researcher at the University of California San Diego (UCSD). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a master’s degree in Software Engineering, both awarded with First Class Honours. Alongside her academic work, Sarah has co-founded several healthcare-related projects and mentored students through programmes for gifted and talented young people.
