Biography

I am based in Room 104 of the Wolfson Building (Level 1, near the Common Room). I work Mondays to Thursdays, working remotely one day per week.

As the Athena Swan Coordinator, I work with the Director for Academic Environment (Athena Swan Academic Lead) and a range of administrative functions within the department, including HR and communications and outreach, to coordinate Computer Science's Athena Swan (gender equality) work, as well as some wider actions in relation to improving equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) within the department. I regularly liaise with the MPLS Division's equality and diversity team, and EDI networks across the University.

The Athena Swan Charter is a framework used to support and advance gender equality within higher education and research. Computer Science currently holds an Athena Swan Bronze Award.

Prior to joining Computer Science, I held HR roles within Sociology, and the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, both at the University of Oxford. I am currently undertaking a CIPD Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic People Management within my free time. I first joined the University in 2015 as an undergraduate student studying for a BA in English Language and Literature at Hertford College; because of my own experiences with disability, I became involved with the Oxford Student Union's Disabilities Campaign, chairing the campaign for one year while I was an undergraduate, and exploring disability studies within my English degree work.
